Genus: Potyviruses

Synonyms: Lactuca virus 1, Marmor lactucae.

Main host plants and diseases: Lettuce

Transmission: Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation; transmitted by

seed (3-10%); transmitted by pollen to the seed.

Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is very high. The virus can be consistently detected in infected tissues diluted at 1:2430 for leaf samples and 1:30-1:90

for seed samples. This ELISA can be used to detection LMV in lettuce seeds.

Reactivity: This test system detects all isolates or strains of virus. Reaction of the ELISA is very strong. Optical Density at 405 _nm is in a range of

1.200 - >3.000 for leaf samples and 0.400 - 1.400 for seed samples,

depending on the virus titer in the samples tested.   

Specificity: There is no cross reaction with healthy plant tissues. Background is very low on all of the negative control wells, include lettuce seeds.
