Genus: Bacillus Sensitivity: Sensitivity of the ELISA is high. This test can be used for quantitative detection of Bt Cry1Ac protein in plant tissues, if a series dilutions of the purified Bt Cry1Ac protein is used as standard curve. Reactivity: This ELISA detects Bt Cry1Ac proteins in expressed in transgenic host plants, such as corn and cotton. The test is successful in detecting Bt Cry1Ac protein in leaves, seedlings, and seeds of cotton and corn varieties. Reaction of this test is strong. Depending on the protein titers in the samples tested, optical Density at 405nm is in a range of 1.500 - 2.500 for corn leaves and 2.500 - >3.000 for cotton leaves. Specificity: This test shows no cross reaction with Bt Cry1Ab, Bt Cry1F, Bt Cry2A, Bt Cry3A, Bt Cry3Bb1, Bt Cry9C, or other Bt proteins. There is no cross reaction with healthy plant tissues. Background is low on all of the negative control wells. |
